My name is Thomas. I got an anonymous letter that I actually found in my junk mail folder. I opened it and thought it was some faux-simple marketing come-on for one of the “find a Russian bride” agencies. the letter claimed to be from a love-seeking 27 year old Russian girl.
The initial return address on the (probably) mass mailed introduction was Olga
stronghold@mcroberts.com which might be the mass mailing agency.
However, in the body of that email she invited me to write to her initially at
olga_ogurtsova@heatlabs.com
The terrible grammar inclined me to believe that it was being individually written. As letters were exchanged it became obvious that she (they) were not reading my letters and I was getting some pre-written response. She added a P.S. once or twice that addressed a couple of specific questions. That, too, was suspicious, but I was a lonely old man and flattered by the attention of such a comely young lady.
Here’s her statement about why she wanted money from me: “Concerning my trip to you. I spoke with my girlfriend Tania. She works in firm which is engaged in registration of passports and delivery of the documents necessary for trips to other countries. For me this conversation became a unpleasant surprise. I have received the following information: The visa costs 300 $ (110 $ - a payment in embassy for consideration of the application, 190 $ - payment of the visa). The passport costs 150 $ (it very difficultly to receive from us in Russia, people wait for turn not one month. But Tania will help me with it and I shall receive it within two weeks) Tickets should be bought at once in there and back, the requirement of your country is those. Tickets in both sides cost 700-900 $ depending on date of trip. The medical insurance, embassy the frequently will be probably necessary considers it as a necessary thing. Its cost about 85 $.
