Please help! My name is Billy and I have been corresponding with a Russian woman named Maria Ivanova from Kazan, Russia. Her correspondence seems very real. We have been corresponding for several months and she says that she loves me and wants to come to the U. S. to be with me and to eventually become my wife. She says that she does not have the money to come here and needs my help. She says that her income there is only $140 a month in US money. She says that a visa and airline ticket will cost $1400. She wants me to send her the money to come here because she does not have it. She even apologizes for not having the money and indicates that practically everyone in Russia is very poor. I would gladly do so if I am not being scammed. I have read everything that I can about scams and her letters are not form letters; but are very realistic. She said that if I do not believe her; then I should come to Russia and get her. That is not possible for me to do at this time. She tells me that Kazan is a dangerous place but to come for her if I do not believe that she exists. Everything seems very legitimate except: She tells me that she can get a visa through a travel agency in 10 days and that it will be a under form B 3. She says that it will be good for 6 months. Everything that I have read indicates that this is impossible. Her name is Maria Ivanova and the address that she has given me is: Simbirsk Path 8. I shall forward some of her letters and pictures.

99,99% chance she is a scam. Russian ladies who cannot afford to buy tickets can't receive a tourist visa. To be able to receive a tourist visa to the US she would need to show that she makes certain amount of money per month and that she owns property such as real estate, cars, etc. If she cannot show that she is doing very well financially, no one will approve her tourist visa.
You can send us several of her letters (especially the first 2 and the last few, where she talks about visa and tickets) for a more in-depth examination.
In the mean time, do not send her any money.

A total scam. The line about the Embassy issuing a visa only if you have the tickets made me laugh. I wonder what happen to those who have the tickets but their visa is declined (as US tourist visas for Russian citizens usually are)? I hope their tickets are refundable!!! :)
The bottom line: a lady in her financial situation (low income, no property, no ties to the society or family) has less than a zero chance to receive a tourist visa to the US, UK and even Canada I think.. The story (I grew up in a forster home, my life is so hard, but I am so honest and value honesty above everything else, I found you and I am in love at the first sight, I never met you but I am ready for the big commitment, etc) is the most typical scam story. The letters were pre-written at the beginning but once the money questions was posed they become personal and not pre-written. Of course. You suggested to come and meet her in Russia - she advised you against doing that (like a lady traveling alone across an ocean to a guy she never met before, who could be a sexual predator, a serial killer, a mentally unstable person) is so much safer!
So, at this point there is not a slightest doubt in my mind that she is a typical visa and travel scammer. Should I go ahead and publish her on the black list?
